STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify the hazards and exposure control methodologies associated with hazardous materials in industrial settings.
2. Explain the major occupational safety and health standards and other resources commonly used to recognize and assess chemicals and
hazardous substances and to prevent, control, and respond to incidents involving hazardous materials.
3. Apply information and standards relating to hazardous materials management.
4. Explain the modes of entry and toxicological effects of hazardous materials.
5. Describe the potential hazards of explosives and conditions and other contributing causes of explosions.
7. Identify and apply the standards and industry practices involved in hazardous waste operations and emergency response.
8. List elements in the OSHA, NFPA, and DOT requirements relating related to flammable and combustible liquids.
9. Utilize the DOT Emergency Response Guidebook to identify potential hazards and protective measures for hazardous materials that are involved in an accident
