  Course Description:Introduces the student to the recognition of possible fire sources and emergency procedures in the event of a fire, as well as an in-depth study of fires and the construction techniques of eliminating fires. This course includes: history of fires, types of extinguishing agents and detecting devices, construction techniques, extinguishing systems and detecting systems. National Fire Protection and Occupational Safety and Health Standards will be stressed.

 1.   Explain possible fire sources.
 2.   Explain and describe various extinguishing agents.
 3.   Describe use and locations of fire detecting devices.

 5.   Describe how the Occupational Safety and Health Standards pertain to fire protection.
 6.   Describe the various construction techniques used in reducing fire propagation.
 7.   Describe the use of sprinkling systems in various industrial settings.
 8.   Use standard occupational safety and health regulations to inspect various industrial settings for fire protection deficiencies.
