Course Description: | Demonstrates the use of skill acquired in secondary coursework to perform contact lens evaluations, minor surgery assisting, refractometry, retinoscopy, advanced motility testing, and advanced visual field testing. Clinical conferences are included. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Be able to properly perform both screening and pathologic visual fields, utilizing appropriate object sizes, adds for age, and technique.
II. Properly record and document the visual fields performed in # 1 above.
III. Demonstrate proper retinoscopic technique and refractometric refinement, and record the results in the chart appropriately.
IV. Demonstrate proper contact lens fitting and instruction of contact lens patients in care, insertion/removal, wearing schedule, as well as ordering and verification of contact lenses.
V. Properly perform and record corneal curvature measurements using the keratometer/ophthalmometer.
VI. Properly perform and record tonometry utilizing the Goldmann, Schiotz, and Non-contact tonometers.
VII. Properly perform and record the following tests:
A. Depth Perception
B. Pupillary evaluation
C. Slit-lamp examination
D. Tear function testing
E. Color Vision testing
F. Exophthalmometry
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Communication with Site Coordinator
II. Professionalism and Ethics
III. Perform patient care in Ophthalmology or Optometry setting under supervision of Site Coordinator
IV. Completion of check offs and assignments in timely manner
