Course Description: | Presents principles and testing methods for the various visual field instruments/techniques. The anatomical correlation of the visual pathway and visual field defects will be covered. Principles of both manual and computerized visual fields will be emphasized. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Define the terminology appropriate to visual fields.
II. Name and describe the anatomical structures associated with the visual pathway.
III. Relate specific visual field loss to ocular pathology and anatomy.
IV. Perform and properly record an Amsler Grid test.
V. Demonstrate the proper performance of the confrontation field test.
VI. Perform tangent screen fields according to standardized procedures.
VII. Utilize the tangent screen to demonstrate technique for hysterical fields.
VIII. Demonstrate proper screening techniques for tangent screen and Goldmann perimetry.
IX. Choose appropriate testing strategy when utilizing the automated/computerized perimeter.
X Perform, in a timely manner, a Goldmann visual field using correct technique for plotting isopters, finding as well as plotting scotomas for size and depth.
XI. Be able to calibrate, clean, and maintain the Goldmann perimeter.
