 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1. Apply advanced concepts of pharmacology that contribute to safe care of patients incorporating developmentally, culturally appropriate, and evidence-based interventions.
 2. Apply knowledge of all aspects of medications to promote desired patient outcomes.
 3. Plan nursing care for patients with complex health needs related to the administration of medications including the use of technology and resources.
 4. Analyze the role of the nurse in collaborating with other healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes related to medication administration.
 5. Safely and accurately compute complex intravenous drip rates.

 B. The nursing process applied to safe administration of IV medications in complex care situations
 C. Resources for safe and accurate drug administration
 II. Advanced application of pharmacological concepts and principles in drug therapy for patients with complex needs and selected diagnoses, incorporating nursing process.
 A. Peripheral nervous system drugs
 B. Central nervous system drugs
 C. Drugs that affect the heart, blood vessels, and blood
 D. Drugs for endocrine disorders
 E. Anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and immunologic drugs
 F. Respiratory drugs
 G. Gastrointestinal drugs
 H. Urinary/reproductive drugs
 I. Chemotherapy of infectious diseases
 J. Cancer chemotherapy
 1.  Anti-Cancer Drugs
 2.  Targeted agents including Biologic Response Modifiers
