STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Identify aspects of hospice care that are unique to the patient’s place of residence.
2. Identify key factors in developing rapport and a relationship with the patient and the caregivers or family; including culture,
family structure, and home environment.
3. Identify behaviors that exemplify adherence to professional boundaries for a hospice professional while working with a patient.
4. Identify observed communication skills or techniques that are useful when working with dying patients and their caregivers/families.
5. Discuss emotional and spiritual support for patients and families in hospice and palliative care.
