Caring for patients going to surgery or for special procedures will be discussed and patient rights in the acute care setting will be explored. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES
1. Identify the role of the nursing assistant as a member of the patient care services/nursing health care team in the acute care setting.
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills when relating to patients, visitors and staff members.
3. Describe special systems care for the acute care patient.
4. Describe methods to provide safety in all patient care situations specific to the acute care setting.
5. Describe the responsibilities of the CNA associated with admission, discharge, and transfer process of the acute care patient.
