STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. create effective thematic maps
II. calculate fiber and non-fiber forest values
III. create new forest attributes, and even new features, from existing ones
IV. run Avenue scripts to calculate feature geometry, identify polygons inside a region, and measure distances
V. distinguish quantitative and qualitative forest characterizations
VI. distinguish nominal, ordinal and ratio data types
VII. identify clear cut openings and their size distribution
VIII. identify clear cuts adjacent to forest roads, and calculate the amount of roadside affected
IX. identify and form forest patches
X quantify diversity and fragmentation in a forest landscape
