Topics include CPR, first aid, and lifesaving (all with certification), as well as training in snorkeling and recognition of marine hazards. Includes lectures and field sessions. Required for incoming freshmen and strongly recommended for transfer students. Taught at Hawaii Pacific University. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Demonstrates communication skills necessary for effective listening, speaking, reading and writing.
II. Demonstrates the skills necessary for creative problem solving, critical thinking, and analysis of values.

IV. Collect, record and analyze field data.
