Includes topics such as maritime terminology, positioning and navigation, basic maritime weather, shipboard sampling and measurement techniques. Includes lectures and field sessions aboard the R /V Kaholo. Required for incoming freshmen and strongly recommended for transfer students. Taught at Hawaii Pacific University. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Deomonstrate communication skills necessary for effective listening, speaking, reading and writing.
