Course Description: | Introduces material about regulations and record keeping pertaining to use of radioactive material, government inspections of nuclear medicine departments, billing and reimbursement of nuclear medicine procedures, and design of nuclear medicine departments. Provides review of major categories tested on the ARRT and NMTCB registration exams for Nuclear Medicine Technology, and instruction in the exam application process. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Evaluate layout of nuclear medicine imaging rooms and hot labs, design a basic nuclear medicine department.
II. Recognize and identify budgeting and operating costs of a nuclear medicine department.
III. Identify and paraphrase the regulations pertaining to the licensing of radioactive materials in medical facilities.
IV. Identify and paraphrase the inspection processes utilized by federal and private accreditation agencies.
V. Organize and prepare for Nuclear Medicine Technology certification exams.
VI. Test and evaluate application of nuclear medicine knowledge to mock certification exams.
VII. Consider and produce a completed certification exam application packet.
