 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Describe the major metal-casting processes and their principles, advantages and limitation.
 II.     Identify alloys that are commonly cast, together with their characteristics and typical applications.
 III.    Identify expendable, permanent and composite molds.
 IV.     Identify general design considerations and guidelines for metal casting.
 V.      Describe the basic process of flat rolling and related rolling operations.
 VI.     Assess the relative merits and limitations of various forming and shaping processes.
 VII.    Describe and compare the economics of forging, extrusion and drawing operations.
 VIII.   Identify the commonly extruded materials and lubricants.
 IX.     Describe the major processes of sheet forming and the equipment used to make sheet metal products.
 X       Identify the major independent and dependent variables in the cutting process.
 XI.     Describe the characteristics, applications and limitations of cutting tool materials in machining operations.
