STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Develop necessary skills to perform a fully-body massage, using appropriate massage techniques and draping procedures.
II. Use proper body mechanics when giving therapeutic massage.
III. Demonstrate understanding of professional conduct including timeliness, appropriate attire, communication skills, confidentiality and concern for client safety.
IV. Develop awareness in the area of wellness and self-care.
V. Develop business plan, designing patient in-take forms, business card and brochure.
VI. Perform massage in supervised in-class clinic.
VII. Utilize and complete necessary documentation for in-class clinic.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Full-body massage, giving specific feedback.
II. Introduction to massage fieldwork experience in supervised clinical setting.
III. Documentation for fieldwork: Letter to fieldwork supervisor, Supervisor feedback form, Journal notes, Final report.
IV. Massage techniques in the clinical setting
V. Set up student clinic, organizing schedule and procedures.
VI. Progress report of fieldwork experience.
VII. Practice of professional communication skills.
VIII. Discussion of self-care and wellness.
IX. Psychological issues
