STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Describe career possibilities and areas of specialization open to the medical transcriptionist, discussing how utilization of transcription affects the medical office.
II. Describe and demonstrate use and proficiency in correct use of capitalization & punctuation in medical transcription.
III. Describe and demonstrate use and proficiency in expression of numbers, figures, and abbreviations in medical transcription.
IV. Demonstrate and use proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
V. Demonstrate and use proficient knowledge of common medical laboratory tests, drugs, and pharmacology in medical transcription
VI. Demonstrate proficiency in use of computer in transcription of medical dictation with knowledge, understanding, timeliness, and skill.
