STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Identify terminology used in medical facilities.
II. Demonstrate appropriate use of the Master Patient Index (MPI)
III. Index and arrange names with titles, suffixes, names that are identical and names for a phonetic filing system.
IV. File numeric cards in consecutive, terminal, and middle-digit order.
V. Demonstrate cross-referencing of personal names.
VI. Identify how misfiles are recognized in color-coded medical files.
VII. Describe appropriate methods for destruction of medical records.
VIII. Identify four types of databases used in medical facilities.
