STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Explain five (5) explosive storage types.
II. Identify the type of explosives that best suit a given set of parameters.
III. List the MSHA requirements for vehicle used to transport explosives.
IV. List the MSHA requirements for handling explosives at a surface mine.
V. Design a surface coal mining blast.
VI. Complete burden, spacing, powder factor, distance and timing calculations.
VII. Describe electrical and non-electric initiation systems.
VIII. Complete series and parallel circuit resistance calculations.
IX. Define secondary blasting.
