Course Description: | Provides an overview of the development of interactive, computer-based media for presentational or instructional use. Selection of appropriate media, screen design, user interfaces, branching techniques, and other design aspects will be illustrated using a hands-on approach. Basic multimedia concepts will be addressed, including: production, authoring and authoring tools, software and hardware selection, media preparation and presentation. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Analyze the history and development of multimedia equipment, software and methodologies
II. Evaluate and select appropriate media forms and formats
III. Facilitate and assist clients to work through answers to formative questions, such as target audience, objectives, etc.
IV. Assemble and manage appropriate multimedia development teams when necessary, such as content specialist, graphic and web artists, etc.
V. Develop formative and summative analysis considerations and techniques
VI. Develop and utilize basic design criteria of multimedia, including treatments, storyboards and flowcharts.
VII. Utilize branching, monitoring and reporting techniques of multimedia software
VIII. Utilize, integrate and troubleshoot configurations of hardware and peripherals
IX. Add rich media and interactivity to a product
X Use various multimedia authoring software products to produce multimedia programs
