  Course Description:Plans and produces content for a single large-scale video/multimedia project, which simulates a professional multimedia design agency. Students are exposed to all phases of digital media production with a focus on meeting with clients, creating proposals, researching, interviewing, writing, video/audio recording/editing, and titling. Students learn to meet real deadlines and work collaboratively

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1. Assemble as part of a team to create a video/multimedia project
 2. Brainstorm with your peers, plan, scout locations and other pre-production tasks
 3. Select appropriate b-roll assets, set up shots and schedule interviews
 4. Operate video and audio equipment
 5. Assemble and arrange appropriate lighting
 6. Develop graphic standards
 7. Develop and build a lower third template for all interview titles
 8. Demonstrate people skills such as effective interviewing and working with others
 9. Demonstrate time management skills
 
 
 


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 
 I. Pre-production
     A. Introduction to project / research
     B. Arrange meeting with the clients
     C. Identify and manage goals and expectations
              i. Determine the central message
             ii. Identify the target audience
            iii. Schedule check in points and landmarks
     D. Assemble as a team and assign roles
     E. Research, contact and schedule interviewees
     F. Attain stock footage
     G. Develop story outline
     H. Plan entire program with story boards
     I. Predict shooting environments and locations
     J. Manipulate dedicated sound recording equipment to capture 2nd sound
     K. Locate and become familiar with scouting locations
     L. Collaborate with the client and maintain on-going communication
 II. Production
     A. Design a studio set up and format
     B. Assemble lighting equipment
     C. Test and operate microphones
     D. Prepare and plan gear for field work
     E. Produce and gather visual and audio clips that support the intended message
     F. Recognize and apply effective interviewing skills
     G. Plan and design other supporting visuals such as b-roll, info graphics and titles
     H. Conduct and record interview
     I. Create effective media management systems
     J. Set up archival process
     K. Support flexibility and strive to be adaptive when dealing with changing circumstances
     L. Collect establishing and closing shots
     M. Critique the work of your peers
     N. Recommend strategies for post production
