STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Demonstrate a familiarity with contemporary graphic literature publications, writers and artists.
II. Exhibit an understanding of narrative structure as it applies to graphic novels.
III. Exhibit a basic understanding of the contemporary critical discourse which informs many works of graphic literature.
IV. Demonstrate a professional understanding of digital art media, terminology, tools, and techniques used in production of graphic novels.
V. Exhibit an advanced understanding of the methods and strategies used for juxtaposing image and text within the context of graphic novels.
VI. Exhibit an advanced understanding of the compositional strategies used for page/panel design and layout within the context of graphic novels.
