Students will explore the fundamentals of developing and illustrating comics, encompassing single panel comics, and word + image based comics. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Exhibit an understanding of the origins of narrative illustration.
II. Demonstrate a familiarity of contemporary comic artists along with their work.
III. Exhibit an understanding of narrative structure as it applies to comics.
IV. Demonstrate a familiarity with basic digital art media, terminology, tools, and techniques used in production of comics.
V. Demonstrate working terminology relevant to the comic and illustration industry.
VI. Exhibit a fundamental understanding of the methods and strategies used for juxtaposing image and text within the context of narrative illustration.
VII. Exhibit a fundamental understanding of the compositional strategies used for page/panel design and layout within the context of narrative illustration.
