Course concentrates on developing expertise in producing line and continuous-tone black-and-white art with emphasis on design and the creation of art for reproduction.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Demonstrate technical ability in using various black and white media to complete assignments
 II.     Create well-designed compositions based on the elements and principles of design.
 III.    Create illustrations appropriate for each assignment following size and format specifications.
 IV.     Explore various techniques before completing assignments using each medium.
 V.      Prepare illustrations for professional presentation, including matting or mounting.
 VI.     Present illustrations verbally in an articulate manner.
 VII.    Participate verbally in critiques of other students¿ work while analyzing concepts and designs.
 VIII.   Follow standard typesetting and punctuation rules.
