  Long Title:Point of Purchase Packaging Design
  Course Description:Introduces the theories and principles that apply to three-dimensional design graphics for packaging and display; various dimensional marketing solutions to create dynamic visual effects concepts will be developed. Work layout stages and mock-ups will utilize various methods of cutting, folding, and assembly to explore the design concepts and their visual effects.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Exhibit a working knowledge of two-dimensional design elements consisting of line, form, value, color and balance as it applies to point of purchase design.
 II.     Exhibit a working knowledge of three-dimensional design elements consisting of line, form, value, color balance and texture as it applies to package design.
 III.    Demonstrate a familiarity of point of purchase and packaging design as a component in graphic and advertising profession.
 IV.     Demonstrate a working knowledge of a point of purchase or package design process from conceptual rough idea to finished mock-up product.
 V.      Exhibit a working knowledge of thinking in both two and three dimensional problem solving.
 VI.     Demonstrate a working knowledge of project managing from mock-up to finished product; including electronic graphic, type and image conjugation, traditional print and finish bidding.
 VII.    Demonstrate a working knowledge of  two-dimensional and three-dimensional board skills, material selection, ink and surface interaction in print, scoring, folding and die-cutting in finished specs.
 VIII.   Demonstrate an understanding of design theory, market target, design, type and color fashion and trends as it is applied in the design profession.
 IX.     Exhibit an understanding of professional conduct, procedures, responsibilities and communication skills in a professional work environment.
 X       Demonstrate a working knowledge of measuring devices and scale in the production of finished artwork in package and point of purchase design profession.
 XI.     Exhibit working knowledge of color theory in conceptual design as it applies to RGB, CMYK, and Pantone in print used by point of purchase or package design.
 XII.    Demonstrate the ability to reproduce oversized point of purchase and three-dimensional package design into a professional portfolio.
 XIII.   Exhibit comparative reasoning, creative decision making skills as it applies to the professional practice of design.
 XIV.    Demonstrate knowledge of professional vocabulary, visual diversity and critical thinking as it applies to classroom critique and job interviews.
