Course Description: | Introduces the visual thinking skills necessary to understand and use the creative process, develop innovative concepts and forms, and to produce and analyze creative works. The underlying components of creative thinking, the creative process, and the creative economy are of primary concern in this class. This class is about concept development and sketching. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the creative economy and how creativity and visual communication come into play in industry.
2. Define terminology, history, and processes relevant to the creative process and the area of visual problem solving.
3. Develop and use skills of visual thinking to create innovative concepts and forms.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the process of design, including concept development; (research, brainstorming, and ideation) and form development (sketching, diagramming, making models, maquettes, or mock-ups.)
5. Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, craftsmanship, and tactile skills required by the creative economy.
6. Produce work with a variety of media & tools, with a focus on creative solutions and innovative ideas.
7. Identify 2-D, 3-D, and 4D art tools used by visual artists, designers, illustrators, sculptors and new media artists.
