Course Description: | Provides the student the use of various conventional machine tools used in a machine shop environment. The use of engine lathes, horizontal and vertical milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, pedestal grinders, power cut-off saws and other machine tools commonly used to produce quality machined parts in today ¿s manufacturing environments. Machining competencies will stressed and students will be required to produce parts manufactured by local manufacturing companies with the consideration of ISO quality standards. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Develop a process plan to manufacture parts using a variety of machine tools
II. Identify the basic components and controls on machine tools such as: the drill press, surface grinder, pedestal grinder, engine lathe, vertical milling machine horizontal milling machine, power cut-off saws and other tools found in machining environments
III. Demonstrate competency in using all machine tools in the conventional machine shop
IV. Manufacture production parts using all resources in machining environment
V. Use quality standards found in manufacturing/machining environments
