STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Demonstrates knowledge of the history and role of photojournalism in news gathering and reporting
2. Uses the terms, classifications and legal considerations of the professional journalist
3. Documents subject matter in a professional, ethical manner while meeting strict deadlines
4. Incorporates journalistic ethical considerations and authenticity in non-fiction storytelling including software manipulation and staging
5. Identifies the differences between the standards for feature-driven vs. news-driven imagery
6. Selects subject matter and uses composition, exposure and other techniques to capture the emotions and circumstances of the subjects photographed
7. Conveys a personal journalistic vision
8. Writes effective captions
