  Course Description:Continues Kitchen and Bath Design instruction while participating in the NKBA Student Design Competition for 1 bathroom and 1 kitchen remodel. Students will use NKBA Graphic Standards and Planning Guidelines to facilitate 2 sets of drawings, 2 materials boards, and 1 estimate and contract for the projects.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I. Analyze the fundamentals of kitchen and bath design
 II. Evaluate and apply basic safety criteria for kitchens and bathrooms
 III. Assess the process of cabinet and interior finish installations in kitchens and baths.
 IV. Define design problems and facilitate solutions utilizing the NKBA design surveys using narrative techniques.
 V. Create kitchen and bathroom floor plans, elevations, construction drawings and mechanical drawings using the NKBA Graphic Standards.
 VI. Assess techniques used to quantify the installation of interior finishes and construction for a bathroom.

 I. Analyze the fundamentals of kitchen and bath design
  A.  Complications of remodeling
  B.  Complexities of relocating kitchen and bath systems
  C.  Ergonomics, anthroprometrics, Universal Design.
 II. Evaluate and apply basic safety criteria for kitchens and bathrooms
 A.  NKBA Guidelines for kitchens
  B.  NKBA Guidelines for Bathrooms
 III. Assess the process of cabinet and interior finish installations in kitchens and baths.
  A.  Learn the process of installation of interior finishes through in-class assignments.
  B.  Learn the processof installation of cabinets
 IV. Define and facilitate design problems and solutions utilizing the NKBA design surveys using narrative techniques.
  A.  Interviewing a client and recording the design variables using the NKBA survey form.
  B.  Bubble diagram for work triangle in kitchen
  C.  Bubble diagrams for bathroom layouts
 V. Create kitchen and bathroom floor plans, elevations, construction drawings and mechanical drawings using the NKBA Graphic Standards.
  A.  20-20 tutorials and project development for kitchen and bath
