  Course Description:Teaches visual communication techniques, methods of communicating interior design plans, ideas and elements using sketching, 2D and 3D drawing and renderings. Emphasis is placed on 2D and 3D perspective drawings, illustrations and renderings.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Communicate 2D and 3D drawings through sketching interior spaces and furnishings.
 II.     Create 2D drawings of floor plans, interior elevations and furnishings.
 III.    Construct 3D drawings of interior spaces & furnishing using the various methods of illustration.
 IV.     Translate 2D plans and elevations in to 3D drawings using various methods of perspective drawing and pre-drawn grids.
 V.      Render 2D and 3D drawings using various techniques, mediums and papers.
 VI.     Illustrate renderings delineation techniques using color, light, shadow, textures, tints and shades of interior finishes and spaces.


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      Communicate 2D & 3D drawings.
         A.      Create 2D sketches of interior spaces.
         B.      Create 2D sketches of furnishings.
         C.      Generate 3D sketches of interior spaces.
         D.      Generate 3D sketches of furnishings.
 II.     Create 2D drawings of floor plans, interior elevations and furnishing.
         A.      Use drafting tools to create 2D floor plans.
         B.      Use 2D floor plans to generate interior elevations of a space.
         C.      Construct 2D plans of specific furnishings of an interior space.
 III.    Construct 3D drawings using various methods of illustration.
         A.      Use isometric drawing techniques to create 3D illustrations of interior spaces and furnishings.
         B.      Utilize axonometric drawing techniques to create 3D illustrations of interior spaces and furnishings.
 IV.     Translate 2D drawings into 3D drawings using pre-drawn grids and perspective techniques.
         A.      Create one, two and three point perspective grids.
         B.      Utilize pre-drawn perspective grids to take a 2D drawing and translate it to a 3D drawing.
         C.      Make use of one point perspectives to create 3D illustrations of interior spaces and furnishings.
         D.      Utilize two point perspectives to create 3D illustrations of interior spaces and furnishings.
         E.      Use three point perspectives to create 3D illustrations of interior spaces and furnishings.
 V.      Render 2D and 3D drawings using various techniques, mediums and papers.
         A.      Render a 2D drawing using colored pencils and/or markers with bond and/or canson paper.
         B.      Render a 3D drawing using colored pencils and/or markers with bond and/or canson paper.
         C.      Render existing drawings using other forms of mediums and papers such as ink, mylar, canson paper, water colors, colored pencils, etc.
 VI.     Illustrate rendering delineations techniques.
         A.      Use forms of color and light, shade and shadow, textures and tints to complete a final rendering which is consider ¿real life¿.
