  Course Description:Designed for all majors in the Human Performance Program and provides the student on the job training. The student will have the opportunity to further integrate academic knowledge and apply those skills gained through the Human Performance degree curriculum. Working in various capacities within the ACC Fitness/Aquatic Center, Physical Education department and the Employee Wellness Program will be required. Students should receive entry-level proficiency at the completion of the course. Graded as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory.~Prerequisites : HWE 248 and HWE 237 and HWE 122 or current CPR-PR/AED and First Aid Certification.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1.   Assess the five health components using industry accepted standards and recognized procedures.
 2.   Prescribe exercises that will enhance one's health and lifestyle.
 3.   Instruct both group exercise classes and one on one training sessions.
 4.   Design effective, scientifically based resistance training and exercise programs.
 5.   Detect and correct errors related to the performance of weight lifting techniques.
 6.   Develop a general knowledge and understanding of management associated with the fitness industry and facilities.
 7.   Incorporate the use of fitness technology.
 8.   Analyze and design scientifically-based nutrition assessments.
 9.   Respond to emergencies when called upon.
 10.  Develop general managerial skills.
 11.  Learn valuable life skills while gaining leadership experience.

 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.   Completion of a minimum of 135 hours of experience, depending on the amount of credit hours this course is
      taken for (1-3), at the Arapahoe Community College Fitness / Aquatic Center  under the supervision of the Internship Supervisor.
 II.  Duties and assignments will be determined by the Internship Supervisor will include the following:
         A.      Working assigned hours during open hours of the fitness center / swimming pool.
         B.      Attendance of students and member orientations and classes.
         C.      Exercise Assessments under the supervision of the Internship Supervisor.
         D.      Development of exercise prescriptions under the supervision of the Internship Supervisor.
         E.      Analyze nutritional log.

 V.   Professionalism as a student
 VI.  Completion of assignments in a timely manner / Time management skills
