 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Discuss concepts of conception, maternal physical alterations during pregnancy, labor/ delivery, and postpartum expectations.
 II.     Identify nutritional needs of the pregnant individual and the newborn.
 III.    Identify different delivery methods and birth alternatives.
 IV.     Discuss body-conditioning exercises emphasized for pregnancy.
 V.      Identify methods of family planning.
 VI.     Identify the danger signs and outcomes during pregnancy.
 VII.    Discuss concepts of newborn care including basic safety and nutrition.
