The course studies the different types of furnaces, code requirements, common controls and mechanical problems. This course also explores the A.G.A. approved method of testing furnace heat exchangers. Customer relations and workplace behavior are discussed.

 I.      Evaluate, maintain, repair and replace several types of forced air furnaces
 II.     Choose, install and repair accessory devices
 III.    Analyze the regulations of the mechanical code applicable to forced air systems
 IV.     Assess furnace control problems and complete necessary repairs
 V.      Recommend and practice acceptable customer service skills

 I.      Operation and types of typical forced air furnaces
 II.     Testing heat exchangers in an approved manner
 III.    Use a multi-meter to test and diagnose control problems in a furnace
         A.      Proper way to maintenance a furnace
         B.      Replacing a forced air furnace
 IV.     Apply the Mechanical Code to these type systems
