  Course Description:Provides practical experience working in an approved social service agency. The student participates in various agency functions as a group member and leader, and further develops skills and knowledge in the use of seld and systems in the helping process. (AAS & AGS Capstone)

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Inventory and assess one`s character qualities, skills and motivation for suitability in specific human services settings
 II.     Research agencies or program facet of interest to identify agency mission/goals and objectives, types of services offered, targeted population, and organizational structure.
 III.    Refine skills and techniques for interviewing for placement through mock interviews and question formation
 IV.     Define specific learning objectives and experiences that include practice tasks in assessing levels of goal attainment and the effectiveness of provider/agency intervention and effectiveness of self and agency in meeting consumer needs and assist agency to use evaluative data in building and strengthening programs
 V.      Demonstrate knowledge of practicum environment on formal and informal level and appropriate role
 VI.     Describe and demonstrate (as appropriate) skills in the application of: case-finding strategies, assessing biopsychosocial functioning, planning and resource identification, linking activities, service implementation and coordination, advocacy efforts and evaluation as they pertain to the below special populations:
 VII.    Describe activities of the case management team and indicate under what circumstances use of practicum student as case managers might be inappropriate for the below client groups
         A.      The Elderly
         B.      Students in Educational Settings
         C.      Children with HIV/AIDS
         D.      Adult Protective Services
         E.      Employee Assistance Programs
 VIII.   Develop electronic and written portfolios, resumes, letters of introduction and personal statements that target various employment positions.
 IX.     Demonstrate interviewing for employment skills and appropriate follow-up activities.
 X       Identify necessary academic preparations, testing requirements, work experiences, and the application process for admission to graduate and professional training programs.
