  Course Description:Introduces students to professional nursing within the culture of quality improvement and safety through lecture, class discussion, group projects, service learning activities, case studies and written and oral presentations of course topics. Topics include an understanding of the context of nursing; attributes, roles and responsibilities of the professional nurse; essential knowledge, skills and attitudes required for healthcare team participation in a culture of safety and quality improvement ; and interpersonal communication abilities critical to the nurse-patient relationship.
