This homemaker assistant course will allow for attendance to basic client needs while providing companionship. This course of study can be the foundation towards assisting the client in their home setting. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Identify family dynamics issues as related to reasons for trending towards home health care, services provided, cultural diversity, important qualities of the home maker assistant, accuracy in patient observation for illness, ethics and the ¿rights¿ of both patient as well as the home maker assistant.
II. Define communication skills such as verbal, non-verbal, basic components of communication, factors promoting good communication, active listening and use of appliances such as hearing aides.
III. Define boundaries to be held by the home maker assistant, actions that lead to liability, how ethics relate to boundaries and client abuse, with examples
