Course Description: | Introduces students to the fundamentals of landscape construction, including construction equipment, safety practices, grading, deck, retaining wall, paving, and water feature construction. During labs students construct various landscape elements. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Demonstrate the understanding of the installation procedures for landscape elements. (E.g. retaining walls, grading, paver and concrete patios, wood decks, landscape lighting, etc.).
2. Demonstrate plan reading for plant and landscape feature layout.
3. Read and interpret a grading and drainage plan.
4. Demonstrate the installation or understanding of the installation of a grading and drainage project.
5. Demonstrate the procedures for operating survey equipment.
6. Demonstrate the safe use and maintenance of equipment used in landscape construction.
7. Demonstrate the proper way to stake and guy trees.
8. Use numeracy and problem solving skills to solve content related problems (ex. linear, area, and volume calculations to estimate material needs for various landscape installations, etc).
