Soil medias, fertilizers, environmental conditions, common pests and diseases and their control will be explored. Industry production and business practices common to this area are also examined. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Describe how various environmental factors (light, temperature, humidity, moisture, etc.) of a build will affect the growth of interior plants.
2. Identify the importance of various soil medias and how they impact plant growth
3. Identify nutrient requirements, deficiencies and excesses in interior plants, and recommend how to correct them.
4. Identify, describe, discuss causes and recommend appropriate cultural, biological or chemical control measures for common cultural problems, pests and diseases associated with interior plants.
5. Identify and describe the history and benefits of interior plants.
6. Demonstrate the identification and usage of 80 commonly used indoor plants with their botanical, common names and cultural requirements.
7. Describe and Identify industry practices used in interior plantscape design and maintenance.
