STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1 Identify at least 50 regionally important bedding plants, 12 bulbs, and 12 ornamental grasses from the list of plants that may appear on the Colorado Certified Nursery Professional exam without assistance using their proper botanical and common name.
2 State important ornamental features for plants discussed in this class (i.e. normal mature height, spread, flower color, bloom season, etc).
3 Discuss and explain the typical use of cultural needs and proper siting of the plants utilized in this class.
4 Draw a simple scaled drawing of an annual flower bed that illustrates the plants at the correct scale and places them correctly aesthetically and culturally.
5 Calculate the approximate cost (i.e. labor, plants, materials cost) of installation for an annual flower bed and a bulb planting.
