  Course Description:Deepens understanding of current and emerging practices in the application of data analytics. Topics include clinical, financial, operations and qualitative analytics; trends in practices; customer expectations; regulations that affect analytics; and ethical issues in gathering, analyzing and reporting healthcare data. Explore the roles and applications of descriptive, retrospective and prescriptive analytics in various settings.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES
 
 1 Evaluate trends in technologies, strategies and current practices for data gathering, analysis and reporting in healthcare settings
 2 Develop appropriate metrics and processes to obtain data supporting clinical, operations and financial decisions, and analyze their
        potential impacts on the healthcare organization
 3 Demonstrate understanding of various tools used for reporting to national/government programs (SAS, VAERS, MAT, QDM, PromisCat)
 4 Analyze different practices for making analytics-based decisions in healthcare, including descriptive, predictive and retrospective analytics
 5 Discuss issues that relate to accuracy, integration and completeness of data sets
 6 Identify, evaluate and apply appropriate tools and techniques to analyze a given data set for specific outcomes,
        and create visual representations of data that convey information clearly and effectively (quality management, utilization management,
        risk management and other patient care-related studies)
 7 Discuss ethical issues as they relate to application of data analytics in healthcare, including privacy and incidental findings
 8 Develop reports and presentations summarizing analytics results for stakeholders with varied backgrounds and expertise
 9 Discuss ways in which data presentation can be deceptive
 10 Demonstrate how trends in healthcare practices, customer expectations, and regulations are impacting the applications
        of analytics to various healthcare settings
