 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1. Apply intermediate understanding of purpose, organization, structure and application of ICD in health care.
 2. Apply key principles and sequencing in accordance with the official coding guidelines.
 3. Apply the guidelines of the Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set as it relates to facility reporting.
 4. Evaluate case scenario documentation identifying diagnoses, tests, treatment modalities and procedures and apply ICD codes as appropriate.
