Course Description: | Provides a more comprehensive study of holistic modalities used to strengthen the whole person in the process of facilitating healing and maintaining optimal health, expanding upon the basic theory of holism discussed in Holistic Health I. Expanded application of holistic health concepts and body-mind responses are used as guides for each modality studied. Discussion of the holistic therapeutic relationship is included. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Develop an understanding of many different holistic modalities and how and why they work
2. Discuss the concepts of mind, body spirit medicine and describe the implications for health and healing
3. Cultivate an understanding of the placebo and nocebo effects
4. Develop an understanding of the similarities and differences in healing and curing
5. Identify ways to integrate holistic principles into one's own lifestyle
6. Discuss the important role of self-awareness, self-responsibility and their relationship to disease and
health and corresponding tools for self-reflection
7. Discuss the qualities of a healing presence and healing partnership
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Introduction and review of the primary holistic categories and corresponding modalities under each category
II. Discussion, explanation and assignment of the areas of research and study for the class presentations
III. Discussion of healing moments and the qualities of healing presence vs. a curing focus
IV. Showing and discussion of the movie
