Course Description: | Informs students of the history and application of this unique form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that integrates physical postures, breath-work and mental focus to aid in the healing of various physiological, emotional & psychological health conditions. Students will learn 18 soft exercise postures and supplemental modalities to tap into one’s universal energy source to calm the mind, focus one’s intention, and reduce stress; while also healing the body and increasing physical strength, agility and vitality. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Describe and share the historic origins of Qigong and its modern-day application in both the East and the West
2. Compare and contrast several forms of Qigong
3. Demonstrate and participate in a variety of exercises using the 18 primary physical postures of Qigong
4. Discuss the potential healing benefits of adapting a regular Qigong practice on stress & various health-related conditions
5. Incorporate meditation, breathing techniques and sounds/chanting into Qigong healing practices for enhanced benefit
6. Design individualized exercise plans/routines to help alleviate health (physical, emotional, mental) challenges
through using Qigong movements and supplemental modalities
