Explores the principles and rules for using homeopathic remedies as well as how it works to activate immune response and detoxification. Reviews past successes, research studies and scientific theories explaining how and why homeopathy works. Students will learn and experience multiple methods of determining possible remedies for first aid application and common ailments affecting society today. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Review the development and history of homeopathy
2. Define homeopathy and the principles of how homeopathy works
3. Discuss the rules for taking and storing homeopathic remedies
4. Examine the historical successes, current studies and scientific theories of homeopathy
5. Identify how homeopathy activates the body’s immune system and detoxification
6. Practice methods for identifying possible over-the-counter (OTC) homeopathic remedies for first aid conditions as well as common ailments
7. Research how to apply homeopathic knowledge to present day ailments impacting society and present findings

I. History
a. History of Samuel Hahnemann and the development of Homeopathy
b. History of the rise and fall of homeopathy in the US
i. competition between allopathic and homeopathic schools
ii. AMA rules and bylaws regarding alternative methods of practice
iii. 1920’s Flexner report of evaluations of medical schools
c. Use of homeopathy in other countries and how it is seen today
II. Definitions and principles.
a. Definition of homeopathy according to Hahnemann
b. Cover Principles of homeopathy
i. Three foundations of healing
ii. Vital force
iii. vis medicatrix naturae
iv. Law of similiars
v. Single remedy
vi. Minimal dosaging
vii. Herings law of cure
III. Rules for taking and storing Homeopathic remedies
a. How and where to store remedies so that they maintain potency
b. Rules for taking remedies so that you get most effect and don’t accidently antidote them
IV. Historical successes current studies and scientific theories
a. Historical successes
i. review of past plagues and outbreaks that were treated with both allopathic and homeopathic methods and the successes of each
b. Current studies that compare drugs vs. homeopathy and successes with use in outbreaks in current times. (Cubas homeopathic immunization success)
c. Current scientific studies that explain how homeopathy works
i. Structured water

V. Identify how homeopathy activates the body to heal
a. Homotoxicology chart of progression of illness
b. Symptoms are the messenger not the disease
c. Stimulation of bodies own methods of healing vs. elimination of symptoms
VI. Practice methods for identifying approp. remedies
a. Introduced to a simple method of case taking and practice with partner in class
b. Students to go on line to ABC Homeopathy remedy finder and enter in information about self and see what remedies come up
They review the top 5-10 remedies and make a decision on which seems to be the best match for them
c. If they choose they can purchase remedy at local store and take and report back results that they had
VII. Research how to apply homeopathic knowledge to present day ailments impacting society and present findings
a. Students are to pick a current health problem (mrsa, ebola, radiation poisoning, H1N1) that they are interested in
b. Research current homeopaths remedy recommendations for this illnesses
c. See if they can find a source to purchase recommended remedies
d. Look up what remedies in material medica and see what symptoms they are for
e. Present findings to class
