 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1. Identify the types of on-road dump trucks.
 2. Identify the instruments and specialized control systems found on an on-road dump truck.
 3. Describe operator inspection and maintenance requirements for an on-road dump truck.
 4. Demonstrate safe on-road driving practices and procedures for operating a dump truck on the job.


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I. Identify and describe standard dump trucks and special dump trucks and trailers
 II. Identify and describe instruments and control systems.
 III. Describe inspection, startup, shutdown procedures and preventive maintenance procedures that must be performed.
 IV. State the normal driving practices associated with dump truck operation and how to handle a dump truck in an emergency.
 V. State the safety practices associated with dump truck operation on a job site.
 VI. Describe proper loading, dumping, and snowplowing procedures.
 VII. Demonstrate dumping a load in a designated spot, tailgate-spread the load, back up with a trailer attached and perform tailgate adjustment, as applicable
