Course Description: | Demonstrates proper gunsmithing shop practice. Topics will continue in advanced rifle/gun/pistol repair, customization, specialized accessories, and enhanced performance mechanisms. Course instructs student in performing modifications for the customer. The course will include repair and enhancement of the shotgun, pistol, and rifle with a detail to profitability for business success. This course will also instruct the student in advanced metal finishing and reloading concepts. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Student shall apply principles and theories of shop management by demonstrating:
A. Execution of basic repairs to rifles in:
1. Muzzle brakes-students exhibit proper manufacturing and installation of and non-typical recoil reduction devices
2. Sako extractors-students will install ¿SAKO¿ style case extraction systems
B. Execution of basic repairs/modifications to shotguns in:
1. Forcing cone modifications
2. Pad installations
3. Dent and extractor repair
C. Execution of basic repairs/modifications to pistols in:
1. Full rib installation
2. Custom cylinders
3. Custom grips
D. Finishing metal on:
1. Color case hardening
2. Metal prep and polishing
3. Modern spray on coatings and water transfer finishes
E. Reloading principles and practices, specifically:
1. Proper firearms maintenance for maximum accuracy
2. Competitive shooting techniques
3. Core scope and its use in the shop
