  Course Description:Designed to give the student the practical experience of owning and operating a shop that practices in rifle/gun/pistol repair, customization, specialized accessories, and enhanced performance mechanisms. It is also geared toward teaching the student how to customize modifications for the end user. The course will include repair and enhancement of the shotgun, pistol, and rifle with a detail to profitability for business success. This course will also instruct the student in advanced metal finishing and reloading concepts.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Execution of basic repairs to rifles in:
         A.      Trigger work-modifications and installation techniques
         B.      Scopes-correct mounting, bore sighting, calculations, drilling & tapping techniques and processes
         C.      Custom stocking-modern bedding principles on wood & composite stocks
         D.       and correct pad installation
         E.      Custom blueprinting and barreling-current state of the art rifle blueprinting principles will be applied.  Precision benchrest barrel fitting techniques will be executed.
 II.     Execution of basic repairs/modifications to shotguns in:
         A.      Choke installation
         B.      Back boring
         C.      Bead and rib installation
 III.    Execution of basic repairs/modifications to pistols in:
         A.      General armorer duties
         B.      Proper custom auto handgun modifications on metal & polymer frames
         C.      Custom revolver alterations.
 IV.     Finishing metal on:
         A.      All forms of chrome molly and carbon steel bluing
         B.      Custom stainless steel bluing
         C.      Electro-less nickel plating bright and matte.
 V.      Reloading principles and practices, specifically:
         A.      Student shall describe standard internal and external ballistic principles and safety factors
         B.      Load development and safety
         C.      Actual range work and sight in processes.
