Course Description: | Builds on the skills leanred in GUS 150 and continues individualized instruction and project work. Enables the student to develop skills by completing the entire process required to construct a knife. Covers Lockback and Hollowground knives. The number of projects are determined by the instructor and student. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Given written and performance tests, the student will perform these tasks with a score of 70% or better:
1. Demonstrate general shop safety practices.
2. Demonstrate tools used in knifemaking and their function.
3. Taper a knife tang.
4. Design a knife for hollow grinding.
5. Demonstrate the step by step procedure for hollow grinding a knife.
6. Hollow grind knife blade.
7. Design, layout and perform fancy filework on the back of a knife blade.
8. Design and make fancy handle pins for a knife and fit handle inlays.
9. Make a flint knapp style knife blade.
10. Design, layout, cut Skill Codes
