  Course Description:Designed for persons who have been assigned by a ranger owner, operator, or manager to oversee range safety. Course content includes: ensuring the range is safe to use; conducting range safety briefings for shooters; handling ammunition and firearm malfunctions safely; supervising safety aspects of shooting activities; and handling emergency procedures as established by the range management.

 1. Explain the procedure for becoming an NRA Range Safety Officer.
 2. Explain the role of the Range Safety Officer.
 3. Explain the purpose of having range Standard Operating Procedures
 4. Explain the basic inspection procedures for an indoor range.
 5. Explain basic inspection procedures for an outdoor range.
 6. Explain four types of shooting range rules and how each type applies to the handling and use of firearms.
 7. Explain the purpose of a range safety briefing.
 8. Conduct a range safety briefing.
 9. Explain the purpose of having emergency procedures.
 10. Identify the steps to take during an emergency.
 11. Conduct an emergency exercise.
 12. Determine the difference between a stoppage and a malfunction.
