The two-week course includes making and maintaining engraving tools and equipment, pattern design and transfer, cutting, stippling, and other basic engraving skills and techniques. Special artistic ability or experience is not needed for success in this class.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Upon completion of this course students shall demonstrate an understanding of metal engraving skills.  Students in this course will consult with the instructor to select projects/tasks that will be completed to the satisfaction of the instructor.  Given performance tests, the student will perform these tasks with a score of 75% or better:
         A.      Explain and/or demonstrate making and maintaining engraving tools and equipment.
         B.      Explain and/or demonstrate pattern design and transfer.
         C.      Explain and/or demonstrate cutting.
         D.      Explain and/or demonstrate stippling
         E.      Discuss other basic engraving skills and techniques.
