Course Description: | Covers the complete rebarreling and accurizing of the AR 15 and its clones. Enables the student to build an NRA highpower rifle, service rifle, or a super accurate varmint gun. It is a two-week class broken into two separate sections. Students must supply their own guns and parts. AR Rebarrel (Week 1) Covers the nuts and bolts of turning and fitting a new match barrel to your AR. Includes contouring, threading and fitting a new barrel extension, fitting and chambering, gas ports and oversized sights bases. AR Accurize (Week 2) Focuses on the triggers, sights, oversize gas blocks and free float tubes, all essential parts of the super accurate AR. Covers highpower sight blocks, ¿leg¿ gun sight upgrades and custom scope mounts. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Upon completion of this course students shall demonstrate an understanding of the components of M16/AR15 Rebarrel and Accurize. Students in this course will consult with the instructor to select projects/tasks that will be completed to the satisfaction of the instructor. Given performance tests, the student will perform these tasks with a score of 75% or better:
II. Discuss the components of turning and fitting a new match barrel.
A. Explain and/or demonstrate contouring.
B. Explain and/or demonstrate threading.
C. Explain and/or demonstrate fitting a new barrel extension.
D. Explain and/or demonstrate fitting and chambering.
E. Explain and/or demonstrate installation/modification of gas ports.
F. Explain and or demonstrate installation of oversized sights bases.
G. Explain and/or demonstrate trigger modification.
H. Explain and/or demonstrate sights installation.
I. Explain and/or demonstrate installation/modification of oversize gas blocks.
J. Explain and/or demonstrate installation/modification of free float tubes.
K. Discuss highpower sight blocks.
L. Discuss ¿leg¿ gun sight upgrades.
M. Explain and/or demonstrate custom scope mount installations.
