Course Description: | Focuses on the philosophies of advanced lever action modification, metallurgy, stress, strength, and the design and theory of barrel gauging and lapping. Covers barrel, magazine, and forend fitting for accuracy, action tuning for reliability and ease of operation, and sight installation and advanced sight-in procedures. Provides the opportunity to do stock work and finishing. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Upon completion of this course students shall demonstrate an understanding of gunsmithing skills as they apply to lever action rifles. Students in this course will consult with the instructor to select projects/tasks that will be completed to the satisfaction of the instructor. Given performance tests, the student will perform these tasks with a score of 75% or better:
A. Explain and/or demonstrate parts fitting.
B. Explain and/or demonstrate accuracy work.
C. Explain and/or demonstrate maintenance.
