STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Upon completion of this course students shall demonstrate an understanding of gunstock carving skills. Students in this course will consult with the instructor to select projects/tasks that will be completed to the satisfaction of the instructor. Given performance tests, the student will perform these tasks with a score of 75% or better:
II. Discuss selection of wood stock.
III. Discuss selection of tools.
IV. Demonstrate basic use of wood carving tools.
V. Discuss research and selection of designs.
VI. Explain how to find artwork.
VII. Demonstrate layout of designs.
VIII. Demonstrate relief-carving techniques.
IX. Discuss finishing processes.
